Great food, great fun and science experiments. What is not to love? Our kids had a blast, read some science books, and practiced their public speaking skills to boot. And where else can you eat an arsenic cupcake and actually enjoy it?

Read this Week

CoverTravelsCharlieSouthPinIt’s Independence Day in the US of A so it’s a great week to read one of Blue Apple Books’ Travels With Charlie. We have Travels with Charlie: Down South which we used for our Booking Across the USA: Alabama project.

The kids loved this seek and find book with a playful hidden pup and facts about all of the states. There are four in the series. You can see projects with all of the books and all fifty states at Growing Book by Book.

Read Aloud Revival Episode 6 with Ken Ludwig – Sarah chats with How to Teach Your Children Shakespeare author Ken Ludwig. The book is a great way for parents to feel more confident introducing their children to the Bard. The podcast is a wonderful companion to the book.

Love Books Summer Exchange – If you like activities to go with your books (and sometimes I do) then check out the neat premise behind the Love Books Summer Exchange hosted by The Educators Spin On It. There will be bloggers and activities to follow all July long. Cool.

Summer Reading Pinterest Board – The summer reading posts may be drawing to a close, but the Pinterest board will still be going strong through the year. Be sure to follow the board, because we are going to keep pinning all the best book ideas we can find.

Is this Goodbye?

Our summer reading posts are coming to an end for this year, but that doesn’t mean the awesome blog post goodness is. Jessica and I are working on series on picture books and activities, learn to write numbers printables, homeschool planning, and more. There will be things for homeschoolers and non-homeschoolers alike.

If you are a homeschooler, sign up through this page to download your free homeschool planning pages. This will also sign you up to the weekly digest.

If you are not a homeschooler, sign up here for the weekly digest. There will be something each week for you too.

If you want Everyday Snapshots more often (we heart you), then sign up for the daily digest here and get a new post every day one goes live.

As for the summer reading program, that will be back next year. We will let you know when the new materials are available in May 2015!
